Helldivers 2 Mode Now Includes Star Wars: The Clone Wars In Their Gameplay

Star Wars fans have been suggesting merging the worlds of Helldivers 2 and Saga ever since the Sony co-op shooter landed on PC and PlayStation 5.

They think it would be a perfect fit for a crossover. Now, one mod team has gone ahead and built just that. Prolific mod content creator Toasted has set his mod team to the task of a Star Wars: The Clone Wars mod pack for Helldivers 2.

The mod pack by Kboy & team replaces Hellidvers with playable Clone Troopers from the 501st Legion, including Captain Rex, Commander Cody, and Sergeant Hunter. Automaton enemies are replaced with Separatist Droids, such as the B1-series battle droids, B2-series super battle droids, and droidekas.

Even the extraction shuttle looks like a Low Altitude Assault Transport.

About Helldivers 2

The game is a satire on the 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers. The merge was between these two different worlds because of the thematic commonality between Helldivers 2 & the Clone Wars.

Fans have suggested that the sequel to Helldivers would be the perfect game for a Warhammer 40,000 crossover, and it's easy to see the Helldivers fighting as the Imperial Guard, taking on the Necrons and Tyranids across the galaxy.

Arrowhead boss Johan Pilestedt said the studio had no interest in going down the Fortnite route, where collaborations could have made more sense within the universe it had created. 'If we ever make crossovers that break the Fantasy - I'm probably dead,' Pilestedt has said.

The Clone Wars Star Wars mod for this gives at least an idea of how a Star Wars-themed Helldivers 2-type game would play, but also the possible eye-candy within the universe of Helldivers 2 for crossovers.

While Sony and developer Arrowhead may do well to wrangle an official Star Wars mod in partnership with Disney, fans have called for other crossovers once they inevitably start to come out following the explosive success of Helldivers 2.
