Beau Willimon joins James Mangold to co-write Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi

One of the key writers of Andor and creator of Netflix’s House of Cards ‘Beau Willimon’ is now aboard to co-write Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi with writer/director James Mangold.

A core member of Tony Gilroy’s writing team for Andor, he wrote the excellent mini-arc that took place at the episode 8 Narkina 5 prison complex.

In addition to working on the script, Mangold - who previously helmed Lucasfilm's Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny has been focusing on the production of his Bob Dylan biopic. It seems natural that he would be joined by a co-writer for his ongoing Star Wars movie Dawn of the Jedi, which was unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration in London the previous year.

Recent Advancements in Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi

In a recent statement released by James Mangold, he said “It takes place 25,000 years before Episode IV, and it’s about the discovery of the Force”.

He added “I told Kathy, I wanted to make a kind of Bible movie, a kind of Ten Commandments of Star Wars – kind of a Cecil B. DeMille film about the arrival of the Force, and that’s what I’ve been pecking away at between press events. That’s the idea.”

Beau Willimon's Connection With the Star Wars Universe

Beau Willimon was credited as the sole writer of Episode 8 ‘Narkina 5’, Episode 9 ‘Nobody's Listening!’ and Episode 10 ‘One Way Out’ of Andor. He also got an Emmy nomination for ‘One Way Out’.

His involvement in Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi is going to add an interesting flavor to the Star Wars movie universe.
